Black Belt Community Foundation launches relief fund for artists

Black Belt Community Foundation has launched a temporary relief fund for artists and art organizations in the Black Belt Region that have been impacted by the coronavirus or COVID-19 pandemic.

The artist relief fund is for individual professional artists of ages 18 and older who live in Bullock, Choctaw, Dallas, Greene, Hale, Lowndes, Macon, Marengo, Perry, Pickens, Sumter and Wilcox counties.

Artists who apply for the relief fund may be eligible for an award of $575 to meet personal needs. Those interested in applying can do so here.

Another fund, titled “Black Belt Joy” aims to assist art organizations with spreading “virtual, artistic, creative joy”. The grant awards up to $1,000 for any group located in the Black Belt Region.
