Next week, the Dallas County Extension Office will act as a “weigh-in” site for the weight loss campaign, “Scale Back Alabama,” a state-wide initiative to promote health among Alabamians.

Scale Back Alabama has been active since 2007 and aims to address what it says is an obesity issue among Alabamians. Those interested in taking part can register online at Scale Back Alabama’s site and go to the Dallas County Extension Office to be weighed.

Participants must be a team of two adults aged 18 or older and must live or work in Alabama. Prizes will be awarded to the winning team.

Additional details about the statewide program can be seen on the Alabama Department of Public Health’s website.

The event in Dallas County will be held on Jan. 21 to 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The extension office is located at 429 Lauderdale Street in Selma.
