Selma Area Food Bank receives 21,600 eggs from Cal-Maine Foods

Selma Area Food Bank has received a donation of 21,600 eggs from Cal-Maine Foods Inc. to feed people during the COVID-19 pandemic. The donation will be recognized by Agriculture and Industries Commissioner Rick Pate on July 15.

According to a press release from the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries, Cal-Maine Foods sold 1 billion dozen shell eggs in 2019 and manages a flock of an estimated 36.2 million layers and 9.4 million pullets and breeders.

The donation of 21,600 eggs will be delivered from Cal-Maine location in Robertsdale to Montgomery before being distributed by N. G. Whatley Trucking, LLC to Selma Area Food Bank.

Pate will recognize Cal-Maine Foods’ donation at Selma Area Food Bank on 101 Craig Industrial Park, Ave. C at 2 p.m. on July 15.
