Schools in Selma and Dallas County have changed course on cancelations for the coronavirus and are closing schools earlier than originally planned.
Selma City Schools announced Sunday night that they will close for students effective immediately, instead of starting Thursday. Employees are told to report to work Monday, and the district recommends families visit their Facebook page to receive further information regarding meals and student work.
Morgan Academy said Sunday it will close Monday at 5:30 p.m. instead of Wednesday and encouraged parents to keep students at home on Monday if possible.
“Students will complete work at home with the exception of spring break,” the school said on a Facebook post. “Our plans are to exercise social distance with our students who are at school tomorrow. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. We are making our best efforts to keep our families safe.”
