On Wednesday morning Alabama Governor Kay Ivey issued a statewide face mask order that will be in effect until July 31 at 5 p.m. in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The requirement to wear a mask in public and in close proximity to other people is another amendment to the Safer at Home order that was extended in June.

According to an announcement on the governor’s website, this was the fourteenth supplemental emergency proclamation made.

Cases throughout the nation continue to rise, with 56,400 confirmed cases in Alabama and 1,028 in Dallas County. Statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention lists an estimated 3,355,457 cases in the United States.
