The Sandbar restaurant reopens with new menu, Chef Dominick at the helm

The Sandbar is located at the city marina overlooking the Alabama River.

The Sandbar restaurant on Marina Drive that sits along the Alabama River announced it will reopen today with a new menu and new executive chef.

The popular restaurant closed in November to add new equipment and redo the menu and staffing.

In a post on Facebook today, the Sandbar says it will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. starting Friday, Jan. 17, and lists a new menu. See that post here.

Their new chef is Harry Dominick, who is also director of the Edmundite Missions’ Bosco Nutrition Center and executive chef for Edmundite Missions Enterprise.

Dominick has been looking to branch out with restaurants in Selma, which he talked about at a September Selma Redevelopment Authority meeting. His interest then was in a fine-dining establishment on Water Avenue. Read about that here.
