The United Way of Selma and Dallas County has approved a check of $5,000 to the Selma Area Food Bank to help feed people during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This is the second grant to be approved by the United Way of Selma and Dallas County, with the first being Bosco Soup Kitchen, which is also feeding people as the COVID-19 crisis continues.

So far the United Way of Selma and Dallas County has raised an estimated $21,000 for its community relief fund. The organization has acknowledged several donors to the fund, including Cougar Oil, Alabama Power Company and Jack’s.

In a press release to media, Executive Director Jeff Cothran said that there will be more efforts to help the Selma community.

“This is just the beginning of the recovery for our community and United Way is working hand in glove with our community partners to help,” he commented.
